Therapy Dogs of Rockland
A proud affiliate of Intermountain Therapy Animals,
now serving Rockland, Westchester and Fairfield Counties.
What We Do
Therapy Dogs of Rockland is an entirely volunteer-based, not-for-profit organization. Our registered teams of handlers and their dogs regularly visit hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation facilities, schools and libraries to bring the joy of human-animal companionship to everyone.
Long-established and reliable research shows that animals – especially dogs – have significant effects on humans’ comfort and well being. These are precisely our teams’ objectives: to provide companionship, relaxation, nurturing, entertainment, mental stimulation, and, at times, physical assistance.
Why do we participate in these activities? Certainly, it creates a more perfect bond between ourselves and our dogs. But another, even more fundamental reason has been expressed by Martin Luther King, Jr:
“Somewhere along the way, we must learn that there is nothing greater than to do something for others.”
